Hump Day Extravaganza
The Western Conference Finals pitting the San Antonio Spurs against the Oklahoma City Thunder won’t get going until Sunday night. In the meantime, get in the mood for what should be a good battle with this James Harden cake. Mmmm cake.
1) Word out of Buckeye land today is that most student athletes will get iPads to help with their studies starting next year. OSU’s athletic department has set a goal of loaning an iPad to every student athlete within the next two years. It’s a pretty cool idea and I’m sure Buckeye players are beyond jacked to get the technology. Part of me sincerely doubts the equipment will be used for studying and research, though. I can’t wait to read the stories of iPads being used for fantasy sports, Twitter and, of course, the naughty websites.
2) The NFLPA has filed a collusion lawsuit against the league. It claims owners colluded to establish a secret $123 million salary cap during the supposed uncapped 2010 season. I’ll leave the details to the legal minds who are far more informed on an issue like this then I’ll ever be. Does it seem to anyone else, though, that the players are pretty agitated? Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma is suing Goodell, players are angry they’re likely going to be forced into wearing knee and thigh pads starting in 2013 and now this. I hate to even bring this up, but is a player’s strike a possibility? Not a lockout, a strike. We dealt with lockouts in both the NFL and the NBA recently – that was the owners getting mad the players were making too much money. A strike is when the players are ticked off and want change. I hope against everything it doesn’t happen but the more news like this that comes out, the more I can’t help but think it may.
3) I read a report today that in the last few months Taco Bell has sold over 100 million Doritos Locos Tacos. I’m happy to say I’ve contributed a significant amount to that number. If you haven’t – what are you possibly waiting for!?
