Andy Baggot of the Wisconsin State Journal today has a column on the low-key style with which coach Gary Anderson has so far approached his new job leading the Badgers football team.

And though the focus of the article is supposed to be Anderson, the whole thing feels like a sideways shot at the bombastic bearing of former Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema.

Baggot even takes direct aim at Bielema toward the end of the column as he recounts another episode of “exit theatrics” that took place before Bielema’s eventual departure for Arkansas.

He writes: “After the 2011 season, Bielema had two head-coaching inquiries from NFL teams, developments confirmed by Alvarez and Bielema. Bielema spoke with representatives from St. Louis and Miami, but only interviewed with the Dolphins.”

Baggot goes on to say that Bielema claimed to be offered the Miami job and a $5 million dollar payday with it. However, athletics director Barry Alvarez appeared to have his doubts.

“I don’t think the job was offered. (Bielema) perceived it was offered. That was my impression.”

Interestingly, although it’s becoming increasingly clear that Bielema wanted out, the fans in the comments section are so far voicing the opinion that they should let bygones be bygones.
