THURSDAY 2/27/14…

Which teams sent scouts to last night’s game between the Blue Jackets and Devils? According to NJ.com, the Blackhawks, Wild, Lightning, Flyers, Penguins, Stars, Sharks and Islanders all had eyes on the 5-2 Columbus loss in New Jersey.

Some of those teams actually sent high level executives. To see which, as well as learn which squad had a former CBJ defenseman watching the game, click here.

SATURDAY 3/1/14

Scouts scheduled to be in attendance at the Blue Jackets home game against the Panthers were:

Kirk Maltby-Red Wings Pro Scout
Andre Savard-Penguins Pro Scout
Bob Hoffmeyer-Devils Pro Scout
Neil Komadoski-Canucks Pro Scout
Dirk Graham-Sharks Pro Scout
Rick Kehoe-Rangers Pro Scout
Chris Kelleher-Wild Pro Scout
Adam Creighton-Bruins Amateur Scout
Rob Laird-Kings Senior Pro Scout

MONDAY 3/3/24…

Watching the Blue Jackets game at Toronto tonight are scouts from the Bruins, Kings, Sharks, and Sabres.

Oh, and about scout from Boston?

TUESDAY 3/4/14…

In their final game before the trade deadline, who was visiting Nationwide Arena to check out the Blue Jackets and Stars?

Bob Hoffmeyer-Devils Pro Scout
Jason Rowe-Sharks Pro Scout

And then there’s this:

Checking out the Bruins

A couple caveats here. First, remember, just because a scout is scheduled to attend a game, doesn’t mean they actually end up in the press box. The Blue Jackets had meetings with their scouts almost all day today, so it’s quite possible that they don’t actually have anyone in Boston.

Two, all the members of the media who have speculated on what Boston wants from Columbus have focused on Jack Johnson and Nikita Nikitin. With Fedor Tyutin out injured and Ryan Murray “day-to-day” with a lower body injury, I just can’t see the CBJ parting with a top-six blueliner…not unless they make another deal to bring in defensive help, or unless Murray’s injury turns out to be very minor.
