No. 24 Cincinnati 65, Seton Hall 59: Sean Kilpatrick scored 21 points and Cashmere Wright 17, and visiting Cincinnati blew almost all of a 20-point lead before holding off Seton Hall yesterday in the Big East.

Cincinnati (18-4, 6-3) scored the first 15 points of the second half and were up 48-28 with 15 minutes left. The Pirates (13-9, 2-7), however, closed to four points twice. The Bearcats, who entered the game 14th in the 15-team Big East in free-throw shooting at 64.9 percent, finished 21 of 27 (78 percent) from the line, including making eight of their last nine. Wright made all seven and JaQuon Parker was 6 of 8, allowing Cincinnati to win for the fifth time in six games.

Kent State 77, Eastern Michigan 62: Randal Holt scored 17 points and hit five three-pointers to become Kent State’s career three-point leader as the host Golden Flashes (12-10, 3-5) defeated Eastern Michigan (10-11, 3-4) in the Mid-American Conference, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Holt’s fifth three-pointer, No. 211, came with 11:34 to go and put him ahead of Trevor Huffman (1998-2002). 

Miami 70, Central Michigan 61: Allen Roberts scored 19 points to lead visiting Miami (8-12, 3-5) over Central Michigan (9-12, 2-6) in the MAC. The RedHawks went ahead for good at 51-48 on Roberts’ three-pointer with 7:18 to go.

Toledo 69, Northern Illinois 64: Julius Brown scored 20 points and Toledo (9-10, 5-3) used a late rally to pull ahead against host Northern Illinois (5-15, 3-5) in the MAC.

Bowling Green 70, Ball State 59: Jordon Crawford had 19 points and eight assists off the bench as host Bowling Green (8-13, 3-5) rolled to a 41-28 halftime lead and defeated Ball State (8-12, 2-6) in the MAC.

Capital 82, John Carroll 61: Spencer Niekamp tied a career high with 27 points in a perfect shooting performance to lift Capital (15-6, 12-2) over visiting John Carroll (10-10, 7-7) in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Niekamp, a senior forward, was 11 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 5 from three-point range. The Crusaders began the game with an 18-0 run.

Mount Union 93, Otterbein 65: Jake Bischoff had 14 points for Otterbein (7-14, 4-10), which couldn’t recover after host Mount Union (9-12, 7-7) went on an 18-6 run in the first half of an OAC game.

Ohio Wesleyan 68, Oberlin 40: Taylor Rieger scored 18 points, going 5 of 9 from three-point range, to help Ohio Wesleyan (16-4, 9-3) defeat Oberlin (5-16, 3-9) in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Reiger hit two threes to spark a 20-2 run the first half.

Denison 70, Hiram 64: Dimonde Hale had 21 points and 10 rebounds for visiting Denison (8-13, 6-6) in an NCAC win over Hiram (10-11, 4-8).

Richmond 73, Xavier 71: Kendall Anthony scored 16 points and Richmond (14-9, 4-4) scored an Atlantic 10 win over visiting Xavier (12-9, 5-3) in a game that featured 15 lead changes, nine ties and neither team having more than a single-digit advantage in the second half.

Greg Robbins hit a three-pointer with 3:30 left to put the Spiders ahead for good. Travis Taylor led Xavier with 24 points.

Tiffin 98, Ohio Dominican 92: Bobby Stauffer had a career-high 24 points for Ohio Dominican (4-16, 1-14), which rallied but fell short against visiting Tiffin (8-13, 5-10) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game. Joe Graessle of Ready scored 36 for Tiffin.
