Ohio 78, Bowling Green 65: Reggie Keely scored 21 points and Ohio University clinched a top-two seed in the Mid-American Conference tournament by defeating host Bowling Green yesterday.

The Bobcats (21-8, 12-2) set a school record for league wins during a 16-game MAC schedule and have posted a program-record 50 wins over the past two seasons.

Along with Akron, Ohio receives a bye in the conference tournament until the semifinal round.

The Falcons (12-17, 6-8) erased a 13-point halftime deficit and led 40-39 with 17:13 left, but Ohio pulled away with a 10-2 run.

Buffalo 81, Akron 67: Javon McCrea had 26 points and host Buffalo (12-17, 7-7) defeated Akron (23-5, 13-1), snapping the nation’s longest winning streak at 19. Zeke Marshall scored 17 points for the Zips, who led by one point with 15 minutes remaining before the Bulls went on a 17-6 spurt..

 

Ohio Wesleyan 84, Saint Vincent (Pa.) 75: Andy Winters scored 21 points, including a three-point play early in the second half that put Ohio Wesleyan (23-5) ahead to stay in an NCAA Division III tournament first-round victory over Saint Vincent, Pa. (23-6).

Winters put the Battling Bishops ahead 50-48 with 14:35 remaining, and they maintained a precarious lead the rest of the way with the help of a 20-of-27 performance at the free-throw line in the second half.

The Bishops will face Cabrini (Pa.) on Saturday.

Cincinnati 61, Connecticut 56: Sean Kilpatrick scored 20 points and host Cincinnati (20-9, 8-8) ended a three-game losing streak by beating short-handed Connecticut (19-9, 9-7) in a Big East game.

The Huskies were without top scorer Shabazz Napier (foot injury), who averages 17.1 points.

Massachusetts 77, Xavier 72: Terrell Vinson and Freddie Riley combined to hit 10 three-pointers and Massachusetts (18-9, 8-6) won an Atlantic 10 game over host Xavier (16-12, 8-6).

Semaj Christon led the Musketeers with 17 points.

Kent State 78, Miami University 58: Chris Evans scored 21 points for Kent State (17-12, 7-7), which won its third straight game, defeating host Miami (8-19, 3-11) in a MAC game.

Will Felder scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the RedHawks, who have lost seven straight.

Ball State 86, Toledo 72: Jauwan Scaife’s 28 points lifted Ball State (13-14, 6-8) to a MAC win over host Toledo (13-13, 8-6). Rian Pearson scored 20 points for the Rockets.

Tiffin 90, Ohio Dominican 74: John Trew scored 21 points, but host Ohio Dominican (5-23, 1-21) concluded a difficult season with a loss to Tiffin (11-17, 8-14) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

Wright State 72, Youngstown State 45: Jerran Young posted 14 points for Wright State (19-11, 10-6), which earned a first-round bye in the Horizon League tournament with a win over Youngstown State (16-14, 7-9).

WOMEN

 

 

Hope 63, Ohio Northern 47: Morgan Dumbaugh scored 16 points and Cenzie Yoder had 15, but Ohio Northern (27-2) got little production otherwise, and host Hope College, Mich. (28-1) eliminated the Ohio Athletic Conference-champion Polar Bears in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.
