Men's basketball | Around Ohio: Cooper caps Ohio’s big rally in second half
Ohio University 58, Miami University 54: D.J. Cooper scored 17 points, and Ohio overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat Miami at home yesterday.
The Bobcats (23-8, 14-2 Mid-American Conference) erased that gap with 15-0 run, capped by Cooper’s three-pointer with 7:04 left.
Will Felder finished with 20 points for the RedHawks (8-21, 3-13).
Cincinnati 61, South Florida 53, OT: JaQuon Parker scored five of his 14 points in overtime for Cincinnati, which forced OT by rallying from an eight-point deficit that had its home crowd booing late in regulation.
Still, Cincinnati (21-10, 9-9 Big East) has lost six of its past nine games.
Victor Rudd scored 22 for South Florida (12-18, 3-15).
Butler 67, Xavier 62: Rotnei Clarke scored 21 points, and Kameron Woods added 15 off the bench as Butler (24-7, 11-5 Atlantic 10) won at home.
Semaj Christon scored 20 points to lead Xavier (17-13, 9-10).
Toledo 78, Eastern Michigan 67: Dominique Buckley scored 21 points as Toledo clinched a share of the Mid-American West Division title on the road.
The Rockets (15-13, 10-6) are ineligible for postseason play because of poor academic-performance scores in recent seasons.
Derek Thompson led the Eastern Michigan (14-17, 7-9) with 25 points.
George Washington 81, Dayton 80, OT: Isaiah Armwood’s offensive rebound and dunk with 2 seconds left gave host George Washington (13-16, 7-9) a victory in an Atlantic 10 game. Dayton is 17-13, 7-9.
Wright State 56, Detroit 54: Miles Dixon hit a baseline jumper from behind the backboard as time expired to send Wright State (21-11, 10-6) into the Horizon League tournament final with a victory in Valparaiso, Ind. Detroit is 20-12, 12-4.
