Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel has enrolled at Cincinnati, where he will have to sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules.
Kiel left Notre Dame after his freshman season. He was an Indiana high-school star and one of the nation’s top-rated quarterback prospects. He originally committed to Indiana, then changed his mind and chose Louisiana State. He changed his mind again and went to Notre Dame.
• Loyola of Chicago made it official, announcing that it will move from the Horizon League to the Missouri Valley Conference, changing affiliations for the first time since 1979.
Loyola will replace Creighton, which announced a move to the Big East in March.
• The NCAA granted Illinois offensive left tackle Corey Lewis a sixth year of eligibility after his return from a series of injuries.
Lewis played in the Illini’s last four games last fall after missing 34 straight games. He didn’t play in 2010 or 2011.
