Bisons 3, Clippers 2: Early lead doesn’t hold

High Contrast Normal Version

Thad Weber limited the Clippers to one run in seven innings, and the Buffalo Bisons rallied for a 3-2 victory last night at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, N.Y.

Ezequiel Carrera gave the Clippers a 1-0 lead with an RBI single off Weber (4-4) in the top of the third inning, but the Bisons rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good. Mike McCoy hit an infield single that scored Sean Ochinko, and Ryan Goins scored on Anthony Gose’s sacrifice fly.

In the sixth, the Bisons added a run when Ochinko’s grounder was mishandled by third baseman Ryan Rohlinger for an error, allowing Moises Sierra to score.

Rohlinger hit an RBI single to center in the eighth, but it was all the Clippers could muster. Bisons closer Neil Wagner struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 14th save.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-6) took the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits in seven innings. He struck out six and walked one.
