Earl Bennett’s 4-yard touchdown catch gave Chicago a 31-24 lead with 5:41 left.

CLEVELAND — What started out as a defensive bonanza for the Browns turned into an ugly touchdown-fest by the Chicago Bears.

The Browns scored two defensive touchdowns, but then, with star cornerback Joe Haden out of the game because of a hip injury, gave up three touchdowns in the final 10:59 to lose 38-31 to the Bears yesterday in their home finale.

They surrendered touchdown passes of 45 and 4 yards and a 40-yard run by Michael Bush to watch their 24-17 third-quarter lead evaporate.

It marked the Browns’ fifth straight loss and eighth in nine games. The Bears (8-6) stayed in the playoff hunt.
