Tyler Green was on a mission over the weekend, and when he ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash yesterday during Ohio State’s one-day summer camp for high-school juniors and seniors, it was mission accomplished.

Soon after came a scholarship offer from coach Urban Meyer to be part of the 2015 recruiting class. Green accepted almost immediately.

“That’s the offer I was waiting for,” said the 6-foot-3, 185-pound safety from Hyattsville, Md., who had arrived on Saturday to make an unofficial visit. “The fan base, the campus, the academics, the coaches, they showed me a lot of love, and then coach Meyer — his job security is one of the best, if not the best.

“He’s from Ohio, and with what he did at Florida and his history, everybody would love to play for coach Urban Meyer.”

Considered a late bloomer, Green was starting to climb the recruiting rankings this spring.

“I think a lot of people were holding on to their offer to see how my senior year went,” said Green, the fourth commitment to Ohio State’s 2015 class. “Coach Meyer, he said he felt like I was a guy with real potential and a guy that they needed, so they made the offer.”
