Former Ohio State center Greg Oden, arrested last week in Indianapolis on suspicion of beating up his former girlfriend, punched her in the face three times and broke her nose, according to court documents obtained by The Indianapolis Star.
Oden, an NBA free agent who played with the Miami Heat last year, was charged on Monday with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and domestic battery. He faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
According to the court documents, police were called to the home of Oden’s mother and found Christina Green lying on a couch with blood on her face and a cut and swollen nose. Green said she fell, but a friend said that Oden had punched her, the documents said. Green would not answer questions about what happened. Oden’s first court appearance on the matter is scheduled for today.
