Redskins 24, Browns 23: Hoyer, Manziel fail to make their case

LANDOVER, Md. — Johnny Manziel raised some eyebrows last week when he said he wasn’t ready for the season opener against Pittsburgh just yet.

Manziel doesn’t have to feel alone because no one on the Cleveland Browns’ offense is ready for the Steelers.

Not the rookie quarterback and not his veteran challenger, Brian Hoyer, who came into last night’s exhibition game against the Washington Redskins with a slight edge for the starting job.

And not anyone else who was out there trying to catch the wayward ball during the Browns’ 24-23 loss.
