  • Devils 2, Blue Jackets 0: Fifth straight loss for Jackets

Cory Schneider made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and defenseman Andy Greene scored a first-period goal on Saturday night to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 2-0 win over the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

  • Michael Arace commentary: Both Jackets, Leafs can smile about trade

Eddie Shore — the late, great Hall of Fame defenseman and longtime owner of the minor-league Springfield Indians — once demanded that a used goal be thrown into a trade so that he would feel better about the return. On Thursday, the Blue Jackets traded a guy who might never play again to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a guy who has a contract that is purported to be the NHL’s worst. Here’s a question: Which side had to throw a used goal into the deal? A few more thoughts on the Nathan Horton-David Clarkson deal: Horton signed a seven-year, $37.1 million contract with the Blue Jackets on July 5, 2013. • Blue Jackets notebook: Sergei Bobrovsky returns, but Brandon Dubinsky out

The Blue Jackets got some good news yesterday when goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky came off the ice after a morning practice and said he was well enough to return to the bench for a game against the New Jersey Devils at Nationwide Arena. But center Brandon Dubinsky was diagnosed with a concussion after practice on Friday and is out indefinitely, coach Todd Richards said.

  • Around the NHL: Red Wings hand Predators home loss

Red Wings 4, Predators 3: Tomas Tatar broke a tie on a power play at 9:06 of the third period and Detroit defeated host Nashville yesterday. Tatar carried the puck toward the Predators’ net and fired a backhander that deflected off Nashville defenseman Roman Josi’s stick and past goalie Pekka Rinne.
