Veteran outfielder Jason Heyward re-signs with LA Dodgers for one year, 9M deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreement with free-agent, veteran outfielder Jason Heyward for a one-year contract worth $9 million

A five-time Gold Glove winner, Heyward was selected to the All-Star Game in his rookie season with the Atlanta Braves in 2010 and won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016. The 34-year-old, who spent last season with the Dodgers, hit .269/.340/.473 (117 OPS+) with 15 home runs in 124 games – his best stats since the 2019 season. Heyward had a disappointing two-year stint across 2021-22, batting just .211/.280/.326 (65 OPS+) in more than 500 plate appearances.

In his 14-year career with the Dodgers, Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Braves, Heyward has a .258/.339/.410 average with 174 home runs and 681 RBIs.
