Former Clippers guard Eric Gordon agrees to deal with the Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to a deal with guard Eric Gordon. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the 34-year-old Gordon reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to sign with the Suns, and reportedly considered the Golden State Warriors as well as the Houston Rockets.

Gordon was acquired by the Clippers at least season’s trade deadline in a deal that sent Luke Kennard to the Memphis Grizzlies, along with John Wall and a pick swap to the Houston Rockets. The Clippers waived the veteran on June 28 instead of guaranteeing his contract for next season; he would have been owed $20.9 million for 2023-24,

Gordon will join Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and the recently-traded Bradley Beal in Phoenix, with Gordon likely falling into more of a reserve role. Gordon shot 42.3 percent for the Clippers in 22 games and has a career 3-point shooting percentage of 37.1, averaging 12.4 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game in 69 appearances and 58 starts.
